Taylor Madgett received her Masters of Fine Arts in Dance with a certificate in Hip-Hop studies from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2020. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and received her Bachelor’s of Arts in History from Emory University. Taylor specializes in Hip-Hop, House, urban choreography and recently co-founded Raw Groove in 2021 with Constance Harris after the two women met and formed a creative partnership during their time in graduate school. Raw Groove is an African diasporic dance collective that blends Afrobeats, House, Hip-Hop, and more. Raw Groove celebrates diverse dances through education, performance, and event production to build community and uplift cultural traditions. Raw Groove strives to positively impact the Colorado performing arts scene by inspiring joy and community through the power of movement.
As a dancer, teacher and scholar I plan to intersect all that I learn within each realm and apply it to my formation as both an artist and human being. Through self-expression, dance has been extremely conducive to my personal awareness and discovery. I look forward to the ultimate transformation through dance research, scholarship, pedagogy and artistic expression.
